Can Do (adj):
marked by a willingness to tackle a job and get it done
Focus on your breath – in and out. Then think about all the choices you can make to improve the quality of that air. Just look and observe, then make appropriate decisions.
As a City of Rohnert Park staff member, I help restore local creeks, create bike lanes, and reduce energy consumption. I’m pictured with super-efficient aerators that treat our City’s wastewater.
My mom used to cut paper napkins in half and reused everything. Now when I chase my daughter around to cut her drawing paper in half, I think, “Oh god, I’m becoming my mother!” I’ve switched every light in our house to compact fluorescent bulbs. I buy local food, ride my bike as much as I can, and help make our community a more livable place.

Interview Excerpts
What makes you tick?
Seeing where the present moment will go. I’m trying really hard to enjoy the moment. There’s a sense of emergency in everything these days. Enjoying the moment is like being a part of a ripple. If everything you do is a ripple, you have to be in the center of the ripple. Take air for example. If you’re in the moment and you breath, you then think about what the choices around you are in regards to air quality. Just look and observe and then make choices. Think about now and how it fits into later.
How do you deal with bad moods and beat the blues?
Pet my dogs. They’re so simple. When I pet them, I go back to focusing on the present. I focus on the softness of their fur. I think of how lucky I am to have them. Everything tends to converge to this place. We’re here where we are. I feel I am here because I’m supposed to be here. Whatever the circumstance is, I’m supposed to be.
