I’m genetically designed to care – it’s in my blood. Environmental degradation and social inequity tug on my conscience. It is important for my happiness that the world does not become devoid of flavor, intense richness, and fertility. I am merely protecting my self-interests, I suppose.
While growing up, my parents discouraged sports and physical activity because they feared that I, a violinist, would injure my fingers. The craziest thing I’ve done was to become a bike messenger for a year. Our motto was, burn fat, not fuel.
I am earning my MBA while working for a local solar company promoting renewable energy. I use biodiesel, take short showers to conserve water, and wear second hand clothes. I love the idea that having less can bring more happiness and abundance.

Interview Excerpts
Why do you care?
I’m a very sensual woman and appreciate the finer things in life like eating succulent, flavorful fruits of the earth and immersing myself in unspoiled waterways. It is important for my happiness that the world does not become void of flavor, intense richness, and pristinity. I am merely protecting my self-interests, I suppose.
How do you envision the future?
I see a clear vision of everyone pulling together at the last minute to attend to our most basic planetary survival needs—like when I have a paper due for school.
